Lockwood House
Lockwood House is an imposing building that dates back to the 1800s, when it was built as the head office of the Bentley & Shaw brewery. The brewery was founded here because of the quality of the local spring water, and we occupy the former office of its managing director Timothy Bentley, whose claim to fame was pioneering volume beer production.
Bentley & Shaw was taken over by Hammonds United Breweries in 1944, who in turn were absorbed by Bass Charrington, who brewed here into the 1960s. Huddersfield Rugby Union Club made Lockwood Park their home in 1997. There is plenty of free parking when you visit.
